Reasons To Be Cheerful #1

Reasons To Be Cheerful #1

Practicing gratitude is such an important facet of my life. Sometimes my friends giggle at how easily pleased I am – I’m the person who gets stupidly happy when there are no cars on the road by my house so I can pull away easily during the school run! I always looking for the lesson in difficult situations – where’s the silver lining? You can always find one if you look hard enough, and it can help you get through the hard times when they come.

With that in mind, here are some reasons to be cheerful from this week!

Halloween outfits

It’s been a pretty good week here in the SoftThistle household, so here’s a wee list of why:

  • Halloween went well and we ended up in the paper with some friends!
  • Max said something new on Wednesday that nearly made me cry: “Mummy, I love you so much and you’re my best friend!” I had to bite the side of my cheek to stop myself crying!
  • Got a cordless Dyson – OH MY GOD this thing is amazing and has given my cleaning regime (HA, like I have one of those!) a new lease of life. Or, well… basically my house is actually CLEAN.
  • I’ve been getting back into the swing of things with blogging which feels awesome.
  • I finished my first assignment for Open University with a week to spare – go me!
  • And it’s Friday now which means hangs with one of my besties after our boys go to their ukulele lesson, followed by the Friday Night FaceTime with my girl JenJen for our usual catch up after Max is in bed.

So YAY for this week! It’s been awesome so far and I know this weekend will be great too.

It’s great isn’t it? Whenever I’m feeling stressed or frustrated I give myself a challenge to find three good points about the day. Even if it’s as simple as “I got us all to school” and “I know I’m gonna love getting into bed tonight”, it really helps. πŸ™‚ I use this with the boys too. Well, Zack mostly as Max doesn’t quite understand the concept at the moment… anyway, it’s really helped him with school and such!

Love this. There is always something to be grateful for even if your having the worst day ever. Although it hasn’t been the greatest of weeks as I’m still without a car with 2 weeks of it being repaired and my back pain has flared up again due to the stress of no car. But I’ve grateful that I can borrow my partners car to get to work it’s only a 2 seater thou, the girls have had a great Halloween and shopping with my mum tomorrow to look forward too. Hope u have a great week next week.

Yep, that sounds like a pretty good week to me, I love that you were in the local paper!! Our cordless vacuum just broke incidentally, so I’m looking forward to having a clean house again in 6 months time when we admit defeat and buy another one.
Also LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog name! x

Thank you! I love playing around with words and this was the result. “Softthistle” was initially thought up as a character name for an online game I used to play! πŸ™‚ x

Thanks lovely, it’s definitely been a good one! And to top it off, Max’s sleep has been pretty good all in all too! πŸ˜€
I swear I knew it’d help having one but it’s given me so much motivation to get things done around the house – I gutted under Max’s bed today because I wanted to vacuum underneath it! LOL! xx

I was given one a gratitude journal a few years ago and I have kept it up since then. It just goes into my bullet journal or my gratitude journal (I stopped worrying about where I wrote it as I just wanted to make sure I did it) but I love the idea of adding it as a blog post.
Thanks for joining in with #TheMMLinky
