Sunday Snippets 11-17 Oct

You know when your kids/spouse/dog says or does something funny/interesting/weird/stupid (the list goes on!), and you think “I’ve *totally* gotta blog that” but then it only works out at about 3 lines of a blog post and that’s just not enough so you just leave it and forget it ever happened? Well, that’s why I thought I’d start Sunday Snippets. You can write down and/or photograph something cute, funny or generally blogworthy that happens as it happens throughout the week, and every Sunday make it into a post. I figured since we’re all friends here in this bloggy community that maybe you might like to find out what others are up to as well!

  1. Write your Sunday Snippets post.
  2. Get the button in the right sidebar over there to thwack onto your post.
  3. Add the link to your blog post (note I said POST, not just the blog url!) in the comments.
  4. Read what some of your fellow bloggers have been up to, comment, and enjoy finding new people!
  5. Come back next Sunday and do it all over again. 🙂

Ahhh so this week started off with the boys up north at their dad’s. Monday was Max’s 3rd birthday no less! My lil man is growing up so quickly! He was spoiled rotten apparently, they had a caterpillar cake and everything according to Zack!

I spent the day through in Dundee, first to see my lawyer, then a quick hot chocolate at Starbucks (ohhh how I miss you!) with Craig, one of the people I went to WoW’s last expansion’s launch night with (basically we stood out in the cold in the middle of november for a store that opened specially at midnight to sell us a copy of the latest expansion of my absolute favourite game in the entire world… there, now you know just how much of a geek I am!)

Then it was up to my old closey to visit my bestest friend in the whole wide world. It was SO wonderful to see her, and her boys, they have grown so much in the last year since we saw each other! I just kept randomly hugging her throughout the afternoon… it was blissful! I only wish I could have packed them into a bag and taken them away with me… there is a nice house for sale just down the road from me who’s garden backs onto mine after all!

Tuesday was the day of boredom for me. I had enjoyed my freedom, spending the day with Nikki on the day they left, lazing around watching Prison Break (series three) on Sunday (oh my GAWD Linc is hot! Rrrrr!), and seeing my lovely bff on the Monday. I was definitely missing my boys and OH SO looking forward to getting snuggled from my boys!

Aaand then they were back! Within about an hour we had the usual tantrums, the whining of “I’m booored” and that was that, back to normal. I didn’t mind though, I got SNUGGLES!

We did also have many many meltdowns from Max, and it took till Saturday till they stopped and he got used to being at home again. I’m not going to complain, it’s hard enough for a regular kid to get used to it, so for Max of course it’s more difficult!

Saturday was a Very Good Day! It started with a lie in! (!!!!!!!!!)

I woke up at about 10am, with my tv on in my room with cartoons on ever so quietly, Zack snuggled up in bed with me and his DS, and Max using my legs as a back rest. Not a bad way to start the day!

We went out for cake and milkshakes, and then spent the afternoon at the park, where we bumped into some friends, both of mine and Zack’s. The kids played well, Max absolutely adores the park, particularly the swings. I think he’d have stayed being pushed in it all day and all night if I’d let him!

There was one awesome lil thing though… my friend has a little dog, a wee jack russell mix, very cute little thing. Do you remember when he showed huge amounts of interest in the last dog we met at the park? Well, this lil doggy was no different! He actually went right up to it, touched her, pushed her to get her to pick up the stone she was playing with… I was gobsmacked!

It may actually be something to look into, when Max is a little older, like starting school age… getting a dog. If it turns out that I do have to be down as his ‘carer’ (which seems to be the way it’s going at the moment), if it ends up that on a regular basis I get calls from the school (even once a week-ten days for eg) to have to pick him up early as he’s having a bad day, then I can’t get a job. IF those things happen, it may be good for both the boys and me to have a lil dog around. It would give me a reason to *have* to get out for a good walk every day, and if Max is that interested in dogs as he seems to be, it could be a really positive thing!

So, not really snippets this week, just a run down of what we’ve been up to!I’m *so* glad to have my boys back, though I definitely needed the break, if only to get rid of the awful cold I’ve had (finally just about gone now… typical timing!).

What have you been up to this week? 🙂

A dog is a great idea hun, no matter what sort of day you’ve had they are always happy to see you and ready to cuddle you when you walk in the door. They are also full of energy and keep the kids amused!

I’ve found a dog is great for the kids here. Well, you know me, I’m all for as many animals as I can possibly fit on the property. Hehe.

Yeah, I still think I’ll need to wait till Max is settled at school and I know more about how he’s coping etc. I wouldn’t want to get a dog and then end up having to leave it alone for hours at a time!

You? Never! 😛 Yeah… going to wait as long as I can make myself before getting one though. Didn’t we have this conversation around the same time *last* year come to think of it??

Awww, belated happy birthday to Max 🙂 Dogs are fab and I would love one. We have HRH’s name down for an assistance dog, is that option possible for you? I don’t know what they are called in the UK/Scotland so I will email you. Jen

Sounds like Saturday was a fab day! I am new to your blog Marilyn, so I do not know the background. Why does Max need a carer? I hope you do not mind me asking.

I have joined in with your snippets this week, Am I the first one? https://mdplife.blogspot.com/2010/10/sunday-snippets.html
Perhaps put a linky tool up next week and make it a blog hop and then those of us who join in can take the html and post it on our post too and spread the bloggy love even further.

Sounds like you had a lovely week although sorry to hear about the meltdowns. That’s great to hear about Max and the dog – good luck finding one that fits in your gorgeous family.

I’ve had a look into it, but it seems they’re not taking any more names as so many people have put their lil one’s names down! Also I don’t think I’d be able to go to any training sessions that easily as we’re without a car. 🙁

Ooh, good idea! I will do that for next week… off to visit yours now. Thanks for joining in! 🙂

Thanks sweety! Still not going to get one till Max is at school, so another 2 years to go. 🙂 Plenty of time to research the right breed etc! hehe 😉

Sounds like a fab week Marilyn! Dogs are such hard work but your Max could really benefit from the right breed of dog. Our dog ( nightmare of a beagle/Hound mix!) is missing16 months now. I gave out about him a lot but I miss him. And WiiBoy talks about him every day….
BTW I loved your post on the good mama!! Well done!

    xx Jazzy

I’m glad you liked it! I think I’ll still wait till Max is settled at school and things are more settled before we maybe look into getting one. Don’t want to take on too much, and they’re so expensive!
