Sunday Snippets 13/9-19/9

You know when your kids/spouse/dog says or does something funny/interesting/weird/stupid (the list goes on!), and you think “I’ve *totally* gotta blog that” but then it only works out at about 3 lines of a blog post and that’s just not enough so you just leave it and forget it ever happened? Well, that’s why I thought I’d start Sunday Snippets. You can write down and/or photograph something cute, funny or generally blogworthy that happens as it happens throughout the week, and every Sunday make it into a post. I figured since we’re all friends here in this bloggy community that maybe you might like to find out what others are up to as well!

  1. Follow me if you’re not already.
  2. Write your Sunday Snippets post.
  3. Get the button in the right sidebar over there to thwack onto your post.
  4. Add the link to your blog post (note I said POST, not just the blog url!) to the MckLinky at the bottom here.
  5. Read what some of your fellow bloggers have been up to, comment, and enjoy finding new people!
  6. Come back next Sunday and do it all over again. 🙂

Well, just because it’s been a hard week doesn’t mean there haven’t been sweet bits from my boys!

Zack and I have taken to chatting after school, and he seems a lot calmer because of it. I noticed that he was getting very hyper after having a snack and juice when he got home, so I switched the juice to water or milk, and it definitely seems to have helped! He’s also figured out exactly how to tickle me so it *actually* tickles, instead of the pretend laughs that I used to have to do. Oh, and Max tries to join in with the tickle-fests – *so* sweet!

Max figured out last saturday how to climb out of his cot. Every single time I tried to put him in there he got out, but not till I was out of sight! So I took the bars off the side of his cot and he can run around his room as he pleases. The first few nights he didn’t settled properly till after 10pm, but since about tuesday I’ve not let him nap for longer than about 40 minutes during the day, and (*touch wood!*) he is so tired by bedtime that he’ll actually walk into their room and put his dummy and blankie in his bed and put his arms up to be lifted up for changing him, so yay to that one!

Oooh oooh OOH, and!! Tonight when I gave him his beaker of milk (yes I’m a bad mother and let him have it when I put him to bed, it’s the lesser of two evils, the one I’m trying to avoid being a massive meltdown that can last 2 hrs or more, and with Zack sharing a room and being at school, it’s not happening), he said “gaguu”, I said “thank you?” and he beamed at me and replied “yeah!” while clapping his hands! My lil man said THANK YOU!! Sort of. 🙂

Also, because he’d been up all day with no nap today, he went to bed early, so Zack and I made popcorn, got some chocolate milk and snuggled up to watch Xfactor together. Just before it started I was sweeping up in the kitchen, and he took the lil dustpan and brush into the living room and proceeded to SWEEP THE FLOOR. Totally of his own accord! He said he liked helping me because he likes it when the house is nice and clean, and he loves me. Melting hearts moments anyone??

Even the cat has started cosying up with Zack now that he’s that bit older and will be gentle and cuddly with him!

I’ve also noticed that whenever I play my piano, Alice the rat runs over to the corner of her cage closest to it to watch/listen. It’s so cute!

So, that’s my Sunday Snippets, what about yours? What have you been up to this week? (I’m madly jealous of all the lovely people who got to go to The MADS ceremony on Monday there btw, maybe one year I’ll be able to gatecrash… Edinburgh next time perhaps Sally?? 😉 ).

Aw, sweet little rat! Good for you with the bedtime and naptime stuff. It can be so hard to figure out sometimes, and you make it sound so easy!

Oh it’s really *not* easy, trust me on that one! It won’t be long before Max figured out that if he pulls hard enough he’ll be able to open his bedroom door… then I’ll be really stuck! >_<

Thanks! Max is coming on so well, and Zack has, on the whole, been a wee star recently! 🙂

Oo I like the snippets idea. I get snippets all the time. But as soon as I think of them I forget them again. I must try writing them down. Well done with taking the side off Max’s cot, I’ve recently done that with my two year old and he’s really well behaved about it. My first son was a nightmare, wouldn’t stay in bed.

I think Max is taking after your first son then! LOL My first was easy as pie when he moved to a bed… they’re completely different so it’s to be expected I guess! LOL
You should join in next week. 😉
