Sunday Snippets 27/9 – 3/10

You know when your kids/spouse/dog says or does something funny/interesting/weird/stupid (the list goes on!), and you think “I’ve *totally* gotta blog that” but then it only works out at about 3 lines of a blog post and that’s just not enough so you just leave it and forget it ever happened? Well, that’s why I thought I’d start Sunday Snippets. You can write down and/or photograph something cute, funny or generally blogworthy that happens as it happens throughout the week, and every Sunday make it into a post. I figured since we’re all friends here in this bloggy community that maybe you might like to find out what others are up to as well!

  1. Write your Sunday Snippets post.
  2. Get the button in the right sidebar over there to thwack onto your post.
  3. Add the link to your blog post (note I said POST, not just the blog url!) to the MckLinky at the bottom here.
  4. Read what some of your fellow bloggers have been up to, comment, and enjoy finding new people!
  5. Come back next Sunday and do it all over again. 🙂

Well, this has been a hell of a week here, both in good ways and bad!

Max is being a nightmare to get to sleep in the evenings. Lots of escaping from his room, so I’ve had to put a stairgate on his door. One to me, nil to Max… other than the screaming! Honestly, you’d think I was trying to cut off his toes or something. I’m not, really… heh.

Zack has been being his usual hyper/cute/annoying/thoughtful self. One minute he’s being a cheeky little sod (“HOW MANY times do I have to tell you not to do that??” “Uh… a HUNDRED” *grins*) and the next he’s being a wee sweety (“look mum, I can make Max happy, see I just let him have a go on my DS”).

Today was a pretty good day. Not too many meltdowns from Max, other than when Zack slipped on Lego and face-planted into it. Poor lil guy, he’s got a cut on his chin and his hand now. I had to stifle the laughter though… it was a hell of a fall! To top things off, as soon as Zack started crying, Max started crying too, and hitting and throwing the Lego about as he knew it was all the Lego’s fault that Zack was unhappy. So I went from two happy boys to two screaming crying boys in about two seconds flat.

It was very sweet though, seeing Max so afronted at what the Lego had done to his big brother that he was throwing it all over the place, and then going over to cuddle into us both as he had got so upset. Very *very* sweet though. I had to smile at it all or I would have cried!

Ohhh but the piece de resistance (don’t to the lil hyphen thingies, sorry!) was hearing on thursday that Max got his nursery place!! A FULL TIME one!!! I am so beside myself with relief it’s amazing. At the same time I’m terrified of how he will cope, and how bad will the meltdowns be. Terrified and excited all at the same time! 🙂

So, that’s my Sunday Snippets (very late I know, yes I’m rubbish… the whole trying to not do too much on the computer at the weekend thing is working really well, but that means I forgot about SS till it was too late, and then today, well, I was busy, and couldn’t be bothered. Sue me!), what are yours?

Yah for Max getting his nursery placement, try not to worry about how he’ll cope or how they’ll cope with his meltdowns. I know it’s hard, I remember when J first started playgroup/nursery I was petrified that he would hurt someone and that the staff wouldn’t cope but then I realised (I work in childcare) I’d warned them of everything I could think of and at the and of the day they were trained professionals who were being paid to deal with it! Well done Max for showing concern for Zack when he fell on the lego 🙂
And as for the sleep thing, sooooooo get that! Stairgate didn’t work for us tho J just climbed over it and made even more fuss! Now he comes out with all sorts, very few meltdowns at bedtime but usually gets up at least twice every night, (last night was 4 times), and always gets up early…………….. who needs an alarm clock! 🙂

This evening I tried doing some rough-housing type play with him as he really loves that. Huge tickle fest and such, seems to help his sensory needs. He didn’t put up *too* much of a fuss going to bed tonight. I think the main difference though is I put Zack to sleep in my bed instead of in their room. Rod for my own back possibly, but at least they both went to sleep quickly, and Zack needs a decent night’s sleep with school these days.
Who needs an alarm clock indeed! lol 🙂

That’s wonderful that Max got into a nursery! That must be a relief. As for the rest, one day at a time. xx

Me too, me too! 🙂 Hope you managed to get Amy to bed ok. I hate bedtimes with a passion these days too. :S

She screamed like a banshee for about 20 minutes and then fell asleep, like falling off a wall. Wasn’t fun.

Your house sounds very like mine so don’t know whether to laugh or cry at your post lol. All you need to do is have a daughter now and we are even! Jen

It is nice knowing others who *get* it though. x
