Taking Stock: February 2014

Happy brothers = a happy mama <3 #love #family #siblings #brothers

Well is it just me or did February kind of fly by there? How is it March 2nd already??

Anyway, back to business, here we go!

Making: myself get us all out of the house every day we’re at home, even if it’s just a lil walk to the shop. Well, other than yesterday when I felt quite ick. But you know, still… walks with the dogs are going down a treat with the boys, not. Zack complains of getting tired and Max seems to always think we’re going to someone’s house and takes the hump when he realises we’re not, but you know… the dogs are happy and so am I, so it’s worth it! 😉

Cooking: uhh. Not too much to be honest. Bung in the oven month it has been… it’s easier that way and, as my friends and I have been reminiscing, it never did us any harm! 😉

Drinking: erm, not much alcohol wise. Attempting to drink more water at the moment rather than my coke (soda/cola, it’s what we call it here, or juice, if you’re from Glasgow way).

Reading: Lots of blog posts! Trying to keep my bloglovin’ feed down over the last few weeks, though sometimes it’s easier to just ignore it for a few days. Or forget about it. *cough*

Wanting: some more dry days like we’ve been having on and off, so we can all continue to get out a bit more!

Looking: like I’ve had a new tattoo done. Yep, that’s on my neck. Of a dream catcher. Oh man that hurt so much! Also I’m all about the purple at the moment. New (purple) glasses, and new hair dye that has a purple tint to it. Purple is where it’s at for now!

Playing: some WoW again. And the ESO beta (now the NDA has been lifted so I can talk about it… yay!).

Wasting: too much time on Netflix. Currently switching between Heartland (oh how I wish this had been around when I was a tweenager… horses and heartbreak!) and a full re-run through Buffy. And then of course there’s Hollyoaks, Easties and H&A, plus all the other tv programs out at the moment. The Walking Dead, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Lost Girl, Call the Midwife, The Voice, and that’s just the ones I remember. I have a problem. *sigh* (I can also multi-task so that helps, right).

Wishing: that I could wave a magic wand and fix what needs fixing. Also a lottery membership would be nice, right?

Enjoying: So much more time with my boys since we got our new sofa. I know it’s silly, right? But the old one had gotten to the point where I couldn’t sit comfortably on it at all, so I didn’t spend as much time in the living room, meaning the boys would be doing their thing in there, and I’d be in the kitchen at the table. Now that I have a comfy seat our whole family dynamic has changed, and we’re all enjoying it. The boys love sharing the recliner part, and we’re all just spending more time snuggling up together. It’s pretty blissful! Oh, and super comfy! 😉

Waiting: for the day when putting laundry and dishes away happens by itself instead of me having to do it every! single! day! *groan*

Liking: being busier these days. It seems that the more I do the more I find time for. Though I do still need some hermit-days (as one of my besties and I have dubbed them) to just *be*. Feeling much more like I’m *doing* things rather than being lazy.

Wondering: how many lessons it’ll take for me to be able to pass my driving test. I know, I know, I’m getting a bit ahead of myself – I just had my 1st lesson on Friday. It was awesome! After the initial “holy mother of god I’m driving something that could kill people” thoughts while I was getting used to how to actually, you know, basically drive a car. Turns out the clutch isn’t as bigbad as I thought it would be. So far at least!

Loving: my new tattoo! Did I already mention that? Well I’m mentioning it again ’cause I love it that much! 😀

Hoping: that spring really is just around the corner, and that it doesn’t get caught with a cold blast like the last couple of years.

Marvelling: at how much strength my friends have. They really are amazing women, each in their own rights. I’m so proud to have their friendships. Especially when that includes hand holding while I got said tattoo done (aka taking the mick so I have someone to swear at, thank you Sharon!!). <3

Needing: to find a way to get some sort of routine to this here blog. I don’t have much of a daily routine, and though some days/weeks I have plenty of spare time (hello more blogging), I just as easily have my weeks filled up. It’s hectic and I don’t like that me having a busy week means I totally forget about blogging!

Smelling: umm, probably mostly the french toast we had for tea tonight. Quick and tasty. 🙂

Wearing: the usual getup of skinny (ha!) jeans with my favourite tan boots, a random top and cosy jumper to keep me warm. It may be almost spring like out there, but it’s still cooold!

Following: You know, I don’t think I’ve really added to my feed reader much over the last month. It’s flown by so quickly!

Noticing: the crocuses and snowdrops coming out to play, and even some leaves starting to unfurl from the trees.

Knowing: that no matter what, I have awesome people around me. 🙂

Thinking: that sometimes there are *loads* of these things to answer… nearly there!

Feeling: amazed that it’s Monday again already. And March. It’s Monday and it’s March… what the actual feck?! How did that happen? I’ll be 30 THIS month… eek! Quite looking forward to it to be honest. I have a good feeling about the future, and this decade can’t possibly be worse than my 20s have been!

Bookmarking: lots of things using Pocket. Loving this little app now I know how to use it!

Opening: uh, no idea…pass!

Giggling: at my boys being silly as per usual. God they’re so damn adorable! I mean look at them up there. My god they are beautiful and holy hell they both have their very own completely different senses of humour. Zack is really sarcastic (no idea where he got that rom *cough*) and Max is very much the cheeky monkey, always keeping me on my toes. 🙂

So that’s it! That’s my taking stock for February.

Roll on March!

Lovely update, and I’ve made of note of your Netflix recommendations – Angel has organised a month’s free trial and I’m looking for things to watch 🙂
Also can you actually explain Pocket? I know I need something like that, but so many apps seems to be overcomplicated…

I have it on my iphone as I’m on there all the time, and it syncs to your phone and the website where you can sign in. Basically I can use it with Tweetbot and also my iphone’s Safari to save links I don’t have time to read while I’m browsing, so then when I have a spare minute I can read em.I’m a late follower to Pocket but now that I’ve figured out it’s use (particularly handy with twitter I’m finding), I’m really getting good use out of it.
Perfect for those times when you’re just popping online quickly to check something and see a link to something you want to read… pop it in Pocket and then you can read it later at your leisure!

Love your post, AND your tattoo (your poor skin sure looks like it hurt…)

Oh it did!! That was *just* after it was done, and was the first full shot I actually got to see of it! Worth it though. 😉

Jeeze oh, I’m knackered just reading all that lol! I had the Pocket app on my phone but I just kept adding to it, and adding to it, and never actually reading the stuff in it. So I got rid. But now I’m tempted to give it another go 🙂

I’ve sort of figured out how to use it for myself now.. mostly when I’m popping on twitter/fb for a quick catch up and see an article I’d like to read. Then when I’m cosied up watching a movie (that sucks) with the boys, I can catch up then, things like that. Also fab for reading in bed when I’m hiding from the kids at the weekend and pretending not to be awake yet 😉

I genuinely think everybody should do a full re-run of Buffy once a year. It’s good for the soul.

That and Charmed! My two favourite shows from back in the day. 😉
