Taking Stock

So the wind was pretty strong last night...!

This month, I’ve been taking part in Susannah Conway’s Blogging from the Heart, and one of my lovely classmates posted this not so little list of things that I thought I would borrow. Thanks Belinda, who found it on Pip’s blog. 🙂

Making: a fresh start at my outlook on blogging. I miss the excitement of wanting to post, so it’s time to find a way back to it.

Cooking: Nothing today! Yesterday it was chicken goujons with chips, tomorrow it’ll be pizza, and Sunday will be casserole time. I’m trying to menu plan at least vaguely for each week, so I have an idea of what to do instead of it getting to 4.30pm on any given day and ending up trying to find something that the boys will eat!

Drinking: a can of coke (Coca Cola)… I have a bit of a habit.

Reading: Mockingjay, City of Bones, the new Bridget Jones book.

Wanting: Max to be well. He’s got the cold at the moment, and that’s set his asthma off. I’m giving him his salbutamol every 4 hours and so far it’s doing the trick, but I think it’ll be a trip to the doctor’s tomorrow just to make sure he has everything he needs before the weekend starts.

Looking: out the back door, watching the dogs zooming back and forth. Well, one is zooming around, the other keeps looking woefully at me, pleading to be let back in.

Playing: I’ve not had a chance to do much gaming over the last week. Damn kids and their insistence in taking over the xbox and my precious mac! However the last thing I did play was the new COD Ghosts, closely followed by GTA V, and Far Cry 3. I’m also still playing WoW every now and then. (NEW EXPANSION OUT SOON, SQWEEE!)

Wasting: time by procrastination. I should be tidying up as my parents are coming over later and, well, everybody needs something to kick their butts into gear to get things done. Instead I’m blogging. Go me!

Sewing: Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah, no.

Wishing: that I could win the lottery, so I wouldn’t be stressing about cashflow over the next month. Ah the joys of Christmas!

Enjoying: snuggles from my wee man, who seems to have decided that both plasters and my hugs can cure any illness. If only that were true!

Waiting: for the books I ordered to get here tomorrow. I *will* re-learn how to tinker with my blogs, even if I do need a “for dummies” book to do it.

Liking: the way The Walking Dead is going with it’s story. I was a bit confused at first with this week’s episode, but I like what they did with it! Also, Supernatural’s Castiel. Yum. Lots of yum. *swoons a bit*

Wondering: how long it’ll take me to tidy up the living room. I’m thinking probably only about 20 minutes really. It’s not much. I’ll get on to that once I’ve finished this post. Really, I will. Honest…

Loving: the new Now 86 album. And Lady Gaga’s new album. And all the movies that are being released to DVD at the moment. And the ones that are in the cinema that I might *actually* get to see over Christmas as the boys will be at their dad’s.

Hoping: that this Christmas will be good in it’s own way, despite it being the first time ever that I’ll be waking up alone. God that’s quite a depressing thought! I will have the pups though. And be going over to my parents’ later on. So I get a lie in! And I get to play the PS4 first!

Marvelling: at how much damage wind can do. There was a hell of a gale here yesterday. A huge wall of ivy was pulled down in it. I never thought I’d see the day! Nature really is so powerful.

Needing: an early night. Max woke up around 3am last night, which doesn’t happen often at all anymore. In fact, it’s pretty much solely due to him being unwell. So an early night (the parent’s lie-in) would be nice. Doesn’t help that I’m a night owl though. I look at the clock and it’s 10pm. Next thing I know it’s nearly 1am. Every bloody night!

Smelling: not much as Max has been ever so delightful and shared his cold with me. Yayness.

Wearing: red shoes, comfy new jeans, long sleeved green top under a cosy jumper with 3/4 length sleeves. What is with that trend btw? I mean, in the warmer weather, I get it, but 3/4 length sleeves IN WINTER, when it’s COLD? It confuses me… Oh, and a scarf. Because gorgeous old house is OLD and made of stone. So even with the heating on full time, it still gets cold in winter.

Following: not a huge amount at the moment. Just ping-ponging about the web and seeing where it takes me.

Noticing: this beautiful light that we only get at this time of year, when the sun stays low in the sky.

Knowing: that my gorgeous Zack will be home soon, and I will be going to his parent’s evening tonight so meet his teacher. I know his report will be a good one.

Thinking: about whether or not Max will get better or worse over the weekend.

Feeling: a little anxious (Max), a little excited (Zack), and a little tired. But mostly I’m relieved that everything being thrown at me right now can be handled pretty easily.

Bookmarking: umm, far too much? Lots of new blogs from BftH, web design tutorials, youtube videos, quotes on Pinterest.

Opening: my new stamps from L2E Studios. Can’t wait to put them to use in my filofax!

Giggling: at this, and this… and definitely this (thank you Heather for that one)!

Ahh that was awesome! Anyone else want to join in? Here’s a blank set to help you along the way:

Yay! Love your wonderful list! I hope Max feels better really quick. And waking up Christmas Day alone for the first time, I’m glad you are putting a positive spin on it…..maybe time for some new traditions?

Thanks Bel! I’m sat here giving Max his inhalers again… I think I’m going to have to set my alarm to go off overnight to give him extra doses, just to be safe.As for Christmas? I fully intend to sleep in, watch the Christmas shoes I want to (without interruption!) and enjoy some uninterrupted gaming time! 😉

I was thinking the same as Bel as I read the Hoping entry… *gentle hug*But what a great taking stock list! I’m thinking I’ll do it on 1st of each month, but seeing Belinda’s post on the BftH group FB page made me think of lists, so I did one about me – and it was really hard!
Lovely to spend e-time with you 🙂

Ooh I’m headed over to yours right now to have a read!I just need to make sure I don’t spend too much time feeling sorry for myself about Christmas. The upside is that last year and next year I will have them, and they will be at their dad’s for New Year’s, so I will be able to go out to celebrate! 😉

I love your list! I remember my first Christmas waking up along (I had a pup too!) it felt strange at first, but now three years later I have a my own little routine, which ends up at a crazy family dinner at noon. I bet it will be hard but treat yourself to something special, maybe buy some ridiculously lovely pajamas and decadent tea and scones or blast christmas carols and make chocolate chip pancakes!

I’m liking the pj’s, christmas carols and choc chip pancakes idea! 😀 I will be headed over to my parents for Christmas dinner, around midday, so that’s something I can look forward to as well. 🙂 Thanks Michelle!

What a fun list! I always enjoy reading about the little things in people’s lives. And oh how I miss watching The Walking Dead. When I go back to America in a few months I’m going to try and catch up. Love it!
