This month is always thought of as the month of Valentine’s Day.
Whether you love it or hate it, it’s everywhere!
I may not have an other half to share it with, but that doesn’t mean there’s not a lot of love in my life!
My family, my friends – both online and in real life. Even my pets!
I figured I can still take part in enjoying the most of the loves in my life, regardless of how I love them.
Lucky you, this month is going to be one *full* of photos!
So, here’s Rocky Da Cat. He has his own facebook page you know… thanks to my big brother!
Rocky came to us when he was just ten months old. In fact, he’s only about seven weeks older than Max!
I remember taking Zack (then not quite three) with me to the Cat’s Protection place one saturday at the end of May, just to have a look around. I knew I wanted to have a cat, but hadn’t really thought I would find one I’d fall in love with that day.
We had a look around, Zack loved seeing so many cats to pat (he’s always loved cats!), but quite a few of them weren’t child friendly. I needed a cat that was either used to young children, or was young enough to just get used to things being noisy and loud and such to be able to be part of our family.
As soon as I set eyes on Rocky (then known as Gizmo), I was hooked. He has the most gorgeous fuzzy tail, I can only describe it as being like a fox tail, but tabby. So big and fluffy, and still looking slightly kitten-ish. He was big though, even then!
Zack and I let ourselves into his little house, to say hello. He instantly wanted petted by me, and didn’t seem to mind Zack having pulled out one of his swishy cat toys, trying to get his attention. I showed Zack how to stroke him, and he leaned into it.
That was it.
I was sold!
With it being a Saturday, it was quite busy, so I quickly took Zack out and said rather loudly that we’d better go tell the lady who we’d spoken to that “Gizmo” was the cat we wanted.
I knew he wouldn’t stay there long.
He’d only been put in a couple of weeks beforehand, as his owners were having to move to a place they weren’t allowed pets. They’d tried desperately to re-home him, but fortunately for us, no one was able to.
A week later he came home, and has been a part of our family ever since!
He seems like such a big tough guy to look at, especially as his mane is growing longer year by year, but he is *such* a sook!
Loves snuggling up on the bed with me, or on the sofa, and these days he adores doing the same with Zack.
He knows to get the hell out of the way when Max is in the middle of a tantrum, but sometimes, when he sees that Max is calm, he’ll tread closer, and rub himself up against him. Max doesn’t like this though, and shoves him out of the way, but he *gets* it, and moves on.
I can’t imagine not having Rocky Da Rockster in our family.
He’s such a sweet kitty!
