The Month of (Almost) No School

This year our “Easter” holidays don’t actually include the Easter weekend.

Who’s dumb planning was that?

So this friday, the 1st of April, is our last day of school.

Then we’re back on the 19th, off again that friday for Easter, back the next wednesday, and off again for the royal wedding.

That’s 6 days total the kids will be in school and nursery this month.

Of course this means I have 24 days with my boys. Well, 21 days if you take off the long weekend they’re going to be at their dad’s for (half-days on the friday and the monday when the leave and go away, so really it’s a three day weekend).

Needless to say I’m not going to have my usual amount of me-time during April.

I’ll be spending more time with my boys, taking them out to places, enjoying the sunshine (hopefully!), spending time with friends, in between the extra housework that having kids at home over a holiday makes.

So I’m doing a few things to make it easier.

I’ve nearly finished clearing out their old toys to take to the charity shop and the dump.

I’m going to paint some more journal pages so that I don’t need to get out the really messy parts of my art to have fun.

I’m going to slow down my posting to *just* my 365 photos for over the holidays.

There may be a few updates within them of course, as usual.

But I’m not going to worry too much about that.

After all, there will come a time when I’ll be fondly remembering the holidays when I was needed so much.

So I’m going to try to make the most of it while I can!

Hope you all have an amazing Spring break!

Goodness Marylin that’s unbelievable! Here in Ireland the Easter holidays were just moved so they are still either side of the Easter weekend. So much time off is not always good for our aspies and auties either. Hope it goes well!

Spurred on by your post, I’ve just checked our April. My two only have 9 days! They’re in next week, then two weeks off then a three day week. Apparently Easter is the latest it can be this year. Blooming moveable feasts!

It’s crazy ins’t it? Especially as the exams start in May – Kathryn is barely in school for April in the run up to them. Then she’s off for all of May apart from her 6 exams so in total for April and May – she’s in school 13 days. She’s such a swot tho and has booked a couple of holiday study days the teachers are running – teachers who won’t be getting paid for it…. thank gawd for teachers.

How on earth did they manage to work it so that easter holidays are not over Easter? That’s just silly!

That’s what I’m dreading… it’s so out of routine for Max, I just have to hope I can find enough for us all to do to keep him happy!

Well, hopefully next year it’ll be a lot earlier! I hope! >_<

Indeed, thank god for them! I’m sure Kathryn will do really well in her exams, she’s got a good head on those shoulders, and the right support from you!

    Two weeks today!! 😀 x

I just know it’s not going to be easy for Max, or any other ASD kids, the huge upheaval in routines etc… eek!

Why on earth we needed a day off just for the royal wedding I’ll never know! >_<

*no* idea! I mean, who even decides when Easter will be? Why can’t it just be on the same weekend every year, 1st in April or something?? >_<

I just had to check our calendar. I always forget when holidays are on. We have 11th – 26th so not too bad. At least at this time I get to work from home so I can sleep in a little bit. Enjoy the time with your boys. Look forward to seeing your photos 🙂

For some reason our schools insist on having the easter holidays in the first two weeks of April here, despite it meaning more time off than is needed! SO frustrating!
And who decides on when Easter is anyway?? 😉
