Whiny post

This post has nothing to do with the pretty picture.

My back hurts.

Specifically, my lower back, and my butt.

Sciatica is a bitch.

And I need a new mattress.

My current mattress is around 7 years old and has withstood both the boys jumping on it as if it were a trampoline.

Thankfully they seem to have passed that stage, so I can afford to get a decent one now without worrying that it will be wrecked.

Anyone got any tips on mattress buying?

Oh, yeah, I’m blogging about mattresses. I guess that means I’m a grown up now, right?

On the up side, Max slept through finally last night after having gone back to school on Tuesday.

He decided after Sunday night’s debacle that he rather enjoys being up at 3am. So did it again on Monday night.

Tough luck little guy. You’re not getting back into that habit. NO way!

So he’s back at school and is very grumpy about it at the moment, but that’s always the case after a few days off. Ah the joys of transition times, even little ones.

So tonight it will be a later bedtime (like last night) after no naps to make sure he’s too sleepy to do anything but sleep through tonight.

I probably won’t though.

Stupid mattress.

Stupid back.

I guess Max isn’t the only grumpy one at the moment, huh? 😉

I can’t remember the last time I bought a mattress – Maybe that’s a hint I need a new one! I shall add talking about mattresses to my list of ‘signs of being grown up’ I had enjoying garden centres and being able to navigate round B&Q so far! Oh, and knowing when I’ve had enough…. of most things!
Hope your back feels better soon 🙂 x

Thanks Karen. Looking at mattresses tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll have a new one by next week. Fingers crossed it’ll do the trick! :)Knowing when I’ve had enough, yep… I think that’s definitely a sign of being a grown up. Though I do sometimes still slip up with that one and stay up far too late to chatter to people online. 😉 x

Sleeping on a new mattress is like heaven. I bought one in 2012 after having a 4 week bout with a herniated disk/siatica that kept me flat most of the time. My advice. Don’t go too crazy – a firm mattress with a dreamy pillow top did the trick for me. Good luck!

I’ve ordered one today that’s pretty much like that but with the pillow top built in, so to speak. Felt divine to lie on at the store… Next week I will be sleeping luxuriously on my new mattress. 😀 Thanks Michelle!

Sciatica IS a bitch … I only had it for a couple of months when expecting my son, then some horrible pelvic pain thing when expecting my daughter, and ALL BACK PAIN IS A BITCH. I’m sorry you have this, it’s horrible 🙁 Osteopath??? Did absolute wonders for me.

Oh I had SPD with both the boys too… it was *awful* with Max. Horrible! I still think that’s what’s caused my back/pelvis/hip pain. I never had problems with anything like that before then. On the other hand… it could just be that I’m getting older and unfit. *cough*Feeling a bit better now thank goodness, and I’ve got a new mattress coming next week. Phew!
