My beautiful locked-in boy.
I wonder every day what goes on in that wonderful head of yours.
How do you see the world?
What are you thinking?
How can I help?
That’s the thing with having a non-verbal child with autism: you never really know what’s going on in that head of theirs.
What I wouldn’t give to spend 5 minutes inside that precious head of yours, Max.
To see the world how you see it,
to be able to understand.
Much more than you let on most of the time, of that I’m sure.
You’re starting to talk more these days, but I have a feeling speaking may never be your strong point, and that’s ok sweetheart.
Now you’ve discovered drawing and writing though, maybe… just maybe this will be the key to unlock your silence.
I can only hope,
and be there for you every step of the way.
As I always have been
and I always will be.
