Lists… ahh lists, you’d think that for someone who’s such a planner obsessive, I’d love them, right?
And sometimes I do. When I have a lot of things I need to remember, lists are awesome! And of course there’s all the pretty paper and writing utensils to use while making them! *drools a little*
Then again, there’s the pressure that I put on myself to get so much done when I make a to-do list, and that just makes me feel like crap.
I mean, you write a list at the start of the day of everything you want to accomplish. Maybe it’s not even that big a list, but then life gets in the way, and before you know it, the whole day is over and oh look, not one thing has been checked off, or maybe one or two things, but that list is still full of things that you didn’t get around to doing.
Talk about a way to make you feel like you’ve done nothing. No thank you!
So my favourite list is the have-done list: one that I write in everything I’ve done during the day (as I do them!), instead of the things I want to do.
See, when I look back at that list, I realise that even if I haven’t done what I’d hoped, I’ve still done a fair amount, and that makes me feel good!
Feeling good is where it’s at, and if that means not writing to-do lists, but have-done lists, then that’s what I’m gonna do!
What about you? What’s your take on lists?
